Something that came to mind.......

I was reading back through my devotionals that I wrote last year and came across this one - thought I would share it again.

"If someone tries to talk to you, will you become impatient? But who can keep from talking?  Certainly, you have instructed many people: When hands were weak, you made them strong. When someone stumbled, you lifted him up with your words. When knees were weak, you gave them strength.  But trouble comes to you, and you're impatient. It touches you, and you panic. Doesn't your fear of God give you confidence and your lifetime of integrity give you hope?"  Job 4:2-6 (God's Word Translation)

So many times we are better to others than we are to ourselves.  We have faith and pray over other's lives and situations, but don't turn that care inward - and speak expectancy over our own because we don't apply our faith to ourselves.  This passage is Eliphaz's reply to Job and to me, it says that you spend so much time being good to others, being helpful, supportive - but when you are the one in need, you go numb - panic.  Those are the very times you should trust and know that God will hold you in his arms and you will be alright, but those are the first times that doubt comes into play.  Eliphaz continues: "But I would seek God's help and present my case to him. He does great things that we cannot understand and miracles that we cannot count. He gives rain to the earth and sends water to the fields.  He places lowly people up high. He lifts those who mourn to safety." Job 5:8-11 (God's Word Translation) Faith requires that you turn to God no matter what you might think - in the worst time, in the best time, in the darkest hour and in the brightest day - you have to know by faith God is with you always, moving in your life, your heart, your soul.  There can't ever be a time that you don't turn to him and make your case, that you don't turn to HIM for guidance and help. HE moves in ways we don't understand, cannot fathom! God wants to be in your life, HE wants to move mountains for you - you need only ask and speak the desires of your heart.  God is always there in love for you - you are his child!
But what about those painful lessons I get from God? Things I have to suffer through to learn something?  True enough - life is not meant to be perfect - we are not perfect, only God is, and HIS plan for us is perfect.  It's what we need individually to grow and become closer to HIM and more faithful in our walk.  But God is not mean - his lessons are to teach and correct us.  Eliphaz goes on to say " "Blessed is the person whom God corrects. That person should not despise discipline from the Almighty. God injures, but he bandages. He beats you up, but his hands make you well. He will keep you safe from six troubles, and when the seventh one comes, no harm will touch you" Job 5:17-19 (God's Word Translation) While his lessons may be harsh at times, God will never let any true harm or evil come to you, he is always keeping you safe and caring for you in the truest way - he will never forsake you and leave you to be destroyed.  Have the same faith for yourself that you have for others - the help you give others is given back to you tenfold by God, so don't panic or worry - God will see you through!!
